Why I built this

Midnight, in bed, pulling down on Facebook Marketplace to refresh it. Nothing new. Then eBay. Then Gumtree. Then Facebook again, in case. I did the same on the way to meet mates.

It was like that everywhere I went. A good listing goes in minutes. Whoever sees it first gets it, and that wasn’t always me.

I’d started trying to make money online at twelve. Crypto mining, freelancing, dropshipping, Amazon, an ecommerce store. None of it stuck, and that went on for about ten years.

Then I found flipping: buying used things that are listed too cheap and selling them on. I’ve done it for three years now and it’s taken me to more than fifty towns. The returns are decent, there’s no boss and no set hours. It suits me.

The refreshing was the catch. So I built AlertFlip. You tell it the exact models you’re after and the most you’d pay. It watches the marketplaces and pings you the moment an underpriced one comes up. You go and grab it, add it to the inventory tracker, list it, sell it, log what it went for.

I don’t refresh any more. I get a ping, I go, I come back with something. That’s the whole job now.

Which marketplaces does AlertFlip watch?

Facebook Marketplace, eBay and Gumtree today, with more on the way. A search can run across all of them at once, and you choose which ones apply to each search. Starter watches one marketplace and Trader two; Sniper and above watch all three.

How fast are the alerts?

It depends on the plan. Starter checks every 5 minutes, Trader every 3. Sniper, Expert and Dealer get instant alerts the moment a listing is indexed.

What counts as one search?

One set of models (or one keyword) with its own prices, radius and marketplaces. Twelve iPhone models under your prices within 25 miles is still one search.

Can I filter by exact model instead of keywords?

Yes. Phones, consoles and electronics go brand → model → your own min and max per model, so “iPhone” never brings back cases and chargers. Cars go make → model → year, mileage, transmission, fuel and body. Anything else, search it with a keyword.

What are AI messages?

On any alert, tap AI msg and AlertFlip writes your first message to the seller: offer lower, pay the asking price or offer a bit more, at the price you pick. Copy it and the listing opens ready to paste. Each plan has a monthly amount with a daily maximum: Starter 150 a month (up to 5 a day), Trader 600 (20 a day), Sniper 1,500 (50 a day), Expert 3,000 (100 a day) and Dealer 6,000 (200 a day). Your own templates work any time.
